Pedagogical staff trainings
In May and June was conducted a training of pedagogical and administrative staff, aiming at creation of prevention among adolescents of their displays of xenophobia, racism, hate speech and intolerance. The school environment and the pedagogues have their crucial impact on forming the adolescents’ adjustments. The target group faces difficulties in its work in a multicultural environment. Pedagogical and administrative staff; personnel, working in the refugee-represented schools and representatives of ethnicities took part in the training. It was conducted in 4 modules: rights and citizenship; ethics; psychology; educational standards and best European practices and was carried out according to a preliminary developed program.
The school is one of the core places where tolerance, recognition of diversity and peaceful dialogue are encouraged. Anti-xenophobic adjustments are impossible to be incarnated from very early childhood without the role of the pedagogues. We have developed a methodology and a handbook that were distributed among the target group.
Target group of the conducted trainings: pedagogical and administrative staff in schools where children from various ethnicities are being taught; ethnic and religious communities (representatives of the Bulgarian, Turkish, Roma and refugee groups); teaching staff, principals, school psychologists, parents. The target groups are sorted out on the ground of pre-project researches and conversations completed in schools where there is a menacing risk from evolution of xenophobic and racist tendencies, hate speech and intolerance, evolving hard to overcome aggression and violence.
The Project „Exchange of practices and creation of a model to limit hate speech by creating a culture of tolerance and recognizing diversity” is financed within he NGO Programme in Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2009-2014.
