On the 28th of April, 2014 SPOC’s team visited the integrational center of the State refugee agency, based in the Ovcha Kupel neighborhood, where a meeting with representatives, looking for protection and refugees, including minor refugees, was conducted, regarding the implementation of a project for social and cultural adaptation.

Development of a National Strategy for prevention of natural and social disasters and an Innovational education program.

Association “Sustainability for progressive and open communication” is working on a project under the Operational Program “Human resources development” – Without borders – Component 1 – Phase 2, “Survival is not a matter of luck – innovational program for companies, people with disabilities and citizens”. The project is about the development of an innovative educational program for people with disabilities about how to act when faced with social and natural disasters and conducting a pilot training for people with disabilities and employees from various companies who are responsible for a large number of people – like security companies, hotels, tourist agencies, large shopping centers, etc.

Running campaigns

Conducting campaigns and activities related to supporting children, parents, and schools through an informational and educational campaign. Meetings and discussions with students and teachers were held in three schools in Sofia – 103 “Vasil Levski”, 3 “Marin Drinov” schools, and 41 “St. Patriarch Euthymius” elementary school,  as well as distribution of informational material and thematic brochures and leaflets
Organization of a workshop for parents, together with the “Paris” Gallery – “Art in aid of parents” – for group therapy and counseling of parents with problem children.

Meetings have been organized for the training and support of young people, members of the Union of the Disabled, and the Union of the Deaf in Bulgaria. Association “Sustainability for Progressive and Open Communication” also organizes events in the field of culture – concerts, youth workshops, and charity programs to raise funds for a certain socially significant cause.

The association participated in the “Let’s help Danny” media campaign, which led to legislative initiatives and the proposal to drop the BGN 180,000 limit for treating children abroad.

 

Supporting the activities of other organizations

In 2011, the team of the association, together with a large business organization, developed and submitted a project proposal related to the introduction of social innovations in companies. The purpose of the project is to provide a social benefit for the company’s employees, which will satisfy the employees’ desire to discuss various topics and events of the work process, without the inconvenience and difficulty of finding a suitable place/room for this type of social communication between them. The idea of ​​setting up a place to facilitate communication between them, which in turn will have a positive effect on improving social communication between the different levels in the company – employees, administration, and management. The project was highly appreciated and approved – a financing agreement was signed in 2012. It is currently in the implementation phase.

Preparation of a project proposal “Removing barriers and creating a bridge between ethnicities and generations”.

Association SPOC developed a project proposal to help the Roma foundation “DAR-2004” under OP “HRD” scheme “Educational integration of children and students from ethnic minorities”. The contract for the project has already been concluded in 2013. The general goal of the project is “Providing the necessary conditions and resources for the implementation of the process of integration of the students from 136 “Lyuben Karavelov” elementary school through their desegregation”. The main activities of the project are related to supporting the process of integration of children and students from ethnic minorities and reducing the number of dropouts and students at risk of dropping out by ensuring equal access to education and training and additional educational activities. General goal: Integration of students from ethnic minorities in 136 ES “Lyuben Karavelov” by providing appropriate conditions and resources and strengthening their motivation for inclusion in the educational process. Specific objectives: Support the process of integration of children and students from ethnic minorities and reduce the number of dropouts and students at risk of dropping out by ensuring equal access to education and training and additional educational and recreational activities. Increasing the motivation of parents and families of children from ethnic minorities to implement a more effective integration process, by attracting them as active participants in socio-cultural multi-ethnic communication in the educational institution and beyond. Increasing the capacity of the teaching staff in the school to implement a successful model and work for the integration of students from ethnic minorities.
